Am I the only one who complicates just about everything that comes my way?!

Ever hear that saying? Keep it simple sweetheart? Yes, when I was a kid it was the word stupid instead of sweetheart, but we know better, eh?

Here's what I am learning and re-learning over and over again. God really has made things to be simple, and if not simple then workable because He does all the heavy lifting... if I let Him.

Let's start with the greatest gift ever given to mankind, including me, and that is the free gift of salvation, which is to enjoy life here on earth and after human death, and to enjoy life with God in Heaven.

First, I don't believe it can be true that there is life after death. Then I can't believe that God would choose me to spend eternity with (this is what my upbringing, my environment, what society feeds me all of my life, and what the devil (one of God's fallen angels) wants me to believe).

Second, if I do receive this free gift of salvation then I am certain I must work for it or work to keep it, right? That means I have to follow some rules, keep up some sort of steps that will mean I stay in good graces, much like keeping up with our jobs and if we want more money then doing even better than just okay. In other words, it's all about how much effort and work I put into it, right?

Third, if I get tired of keeping up and I slack off then I know I'm in trouble, so I better pick myself back up and get back to working at it. The more effort I put into this "salvation gift" I have accepted then the better off I will be, right?

The truth is I need only do a few simple things, and really these should be things I want to do because I want to please my Heavenly Father. I just need to spend time with Him, to read about Him and his character, and to pray and talk with Him. And like any great relationship, I listen to Him, and then I obey what He teaches me because He made it so when I obey things are simple and quite easy. Even difficult times, even tough situations, and heartbreaks are all manageable with His help.

So, in essence, I just need to "Let Go and Let God." It really is that simple.
