Just You!
This is an epiphany I realized over 4 years ago...
Lord, I am so grateful that I can meet with you any time, any place I want or need. There is never a lineup, I never have to draw a number, or wait to converse with you. You are always present and always waiting for me to join you.
Revelations 3:20 states: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with me." (Punctuation mine) New King James Version
Wow! Just wow! There is so much in this verse—it hit me with 'Behold'. This opening word captured my attention, and the dictionary says it means to see or observe something or someone that is remarkable. I felt God speaking to my spirit—our God of all creation saying—look here and listen to what I'm about to say—it's coming directly from me to you (put your name here), pay attention. Here I stand at the door of your heart, mind, soul, and body and I am politely, gently, quietly knocking. Do you hear me? Do you seek me? I am right here. I long for you. I created you. You are part of me and that in itself is glorious.
We have two responses. We can hear and respond to Him. It is always our choice. Do I turn away and say, not now Lord, I'm too busy, I'm too disorganized, I'm too dirty, I'm too... you fill in the blank? But if we do take that next step, open our heart, our eyes to see, our mind, soul, and body and say, "Lord, creator of who I am, would you please come in and sit at my table and dine with me..."
I feel like God is telling me that he's not looking for a formal banquet table, but rather he's looking for an intimate candle-lit table for two—just Him and I; just Him and you. He longs to sit down and converse with us, just listen to what we have to say, or not say anything at all. He longs to share what is on His heart for why He created us, just as we are. He longs to see you and I set free to soar to the heavens. He longs to be our greatest love every day of our lives here on earth and in the New Jerusalem to come. Will you invite Him in to dine with you? Let's light that candle together...
