Who Are You Imitating?

What we say or others say to us can have either a positive or negative impact.

Have you noticed sometimes how a phrase just pops into your mind, and you begin to say it without even really thinking about it?

We are so like a parrot. What we hear seems to adhere (oooh, I rhymed) to our minds, and if heard a few times over in a short span of time, we parrot it back so easily.

But what are we really saying? Some of the sayings that pop into my mind are things I heard my mother say... a lot. Or what about all of those sayings we heard in a sing-song voice like, if you step on a crack you'll break your mother's back. And don't get me started on commercial jingles! Those really stick like glue year in and year out.

Now, if only I could do that with the Word of God. Then I'll be hearing truth, wonder, and all things necessary to nourish my mind and soul.

Php 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
